In a prepared statement, Congressman John Joyce said “It is devastating that U.S. Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick has died from injuries that he sustained on Wednesday while protecting the U.S. Capitol and the people inside. Our hearts are heavy for Officer Sicknick’s family, loved ones, and Capitol Police colleagues, and Alice and I keep them in our prayers.” Joyce also added, that every day, law enforcement officers across the country put their lives on the line to protect Americans peacefully exercising their First Amendment rights. He said he believes that the perpetrators who attacked Officer Sicknick and the U.S. Capitol Police must be brought to justice.
