If you listen to the “Homegrown Rocker” regularly, you might be familiar with my choice for this week’s “Local Song of the Week” – The Derek Woods Band’s “Unforgiving Tree,” from their 2019 EP “The Question.” But we can now add the label “award-winning” when we describe this song and video, which just captured top honors for best Folk/Americana/Acoustic Song in the annual Hollywood Music in Media Awards, presented this past Wednesday evening (January 27)! Congratulations to this group for their achievement! And watch for The Derek Woods Band on area live music venue and festival stages as we (hopefully) start getting past the COVID-19 pandemic later this year!
