A no contest plea has been entered in a stalking case involving an Altoona man who was arrested last year and charged with stalking the family of his former landlord. 46 year old Erick Karlson has agreed to avoid future contact with that family as part of a plea deal that was reached Wednesday in Blair County Court in exchange for his time served prison sentence of 4 – 8 months. But his time behind bars is not over yet… Karlson still has some time let to serve on a separate state prison sentence handed down in Centre County, so that means he will remain in the State Correctional Institution at Benner. After he is finally released, he will then be under state supervision. The Centre County sentence was 42 to 82 months in prison for burglary, arson of an inhabited building, criminal attempt arson, risking a catastrophe and related convictions back in 2018. Yesterday’s no contest plea in Blair County means Karlson is not admitting to the action of stalking, but acknowledging that sufficient evidence exists to result in a conviction.
