A.D. 2020 – “Undivided”

This week’s choice for “Local Song of the Week” is a song from a new musical project collaboration called A.D. 2020. The brainchild of Harrisburg area musicians Mark McNelley (vocals) and Todd Thanhauser (drums and vocals), the project began taking shape last year during the COVID-19 lockdown, with more musicians joining the collaboration along the way – including Dan Reed (guitars, keys and vocals) and Melvin Brannon Jr. (bass and harmonica) of national recording group the Dan Reed Network, Greg Smith (bass and vocals), Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (guitars and vocals) and Derek Sherinian (keys and electronics). The resulting debut album, “Lockdown Diaries,” presents fresh-sounding hard rock with positive-leaning lyrical messages mostly inspired by the world of the past 18 months. The album- released in August – also includes a punchy update of War’s 1975 hit song “Why Can’t We Be Friends?” This “Local Song of the Week,” “Undivided” encourages unity and getting past the divisions that have impacted our society and world in recent years. To find out more about the album, listen to Q94’s “Homegrown Rocker” this Sunday night (Sept. 12) when “Lockdown Diaries” will be reviewed in “The Professor’s CD Corner!”
