A report in the Altoona Mirror indicates that the board has agreed to its budget proposal. The $20.6 million spending plan contains a 4.9% property tax increase. That increase will cost the average homeowner in the district an extra $64 starting in the fall. The district is waiting to see if state funding will help pare down a looming deficit. A looming deficit of $761,000 would almost double if current state funding remains at the level is stands at right now. The budget will now be made open for public inspection, and will be voted on June 14th.
