Hollidaysburg school district budget woes

In the report, district Superintendent Bob Gildea said that some very difficult choices are facing the board, and depending on how those choices turn out, within the next several years, the district could see a whopping deficit of more than $19 million by the 26-27 school year. If the board approves cuts now, and raises taxes by 3% yearly, that deficit could be pared down to $9.5 million. Superintendent Gildea also said that there is a serious finding crisis coming down the road, and said that a dire situation is staring the district in the face as soon as next school year. Some $934,000 in cuts have been made from the proposed 22-23 budget.
