A report in the Altoona Mirror indicates that the Bedford County Commissioners have laid out their 2023 spending plan, that includes a 4.9% property tax increase. According to the board of commissioners, this money is needed to help balance the proposed budget. Those who have a property assessment at $100,000 will see an increase of $19 in their tax bills for 2023. The county will also use a fund balance from 2022 along with American Rescue Plan funds to balance the budget. The commissioners also stated that cuts will have to be made to help balance the budget, and those targeted areas include the county library system and the 911 center. The proposed budget will be on public display for 20 days.
