The Altoona Mirror reports that police have identified the victim as 38 year old Joseph Holzer. He apparently was walking across 17th street near Second Avenue inside a crosswalk when he was hit by an unidentified driver. Holzer died from numerous serious injuries sustained at the scene. Coroner Patty Ross said that Holzer was wearing black clothing at the time of the accident. A state police accident reconstruction unit is assisting Altoona Police to piece together the accident.
