The report out of Harrisburg indicates that the house voted 173-30 on a bill that would allow Pennsylvania to spend roughly $100 million from the American Rescue Plan Act to bolster mental health programs which would include expanding the industry’s workforce, improve the criminal justice and public safety systems, and help bring more support to people in need. Some of that money is also being targeted for children’s mental health issues, enhancing the suicide prevention hotline, and for county services. The state county Commissioner association says that the organization would like to see $150 million for local services, but Gov Shapiro has only budgeted $20 million in his budget proposal.
