Television news reports indicate that police arrested 36 year old Mark Rodgers after he allegedly robbed the store on the 600 block of 7th street on Wednesday. Police report that an employee caught rogers behind the counter stealing items then running out of the store. The employee called police and they arrived to find rogers running through the neighborhood, throwing two bags of stolen items away. He was cornered on a residential porch and refused police commands to get on the floor of the porch. He was finally subdued by several officers and taken to UPMC Altoona after banging his head inside the patrol car. He was then taken to the Altoona Police station, where police say he tried to hang himself inside a jail cell.
