Television news reports from yesterday indicate that Suplizio,who is charged with stealing more than $600,000 from the city of Dubois, is now headed to federal court on all charges. Yesterday the commonwealth announced it was dismissing all charges against Suplizio, and turning the case completely over to the federal government. Suplizio and his former secretary, Roberta Shaffer were indicted earlier this month on the same theft charges, but by a federal grand jury. The couple is charged with conspiring to steal and stealing funds from the city of Dubois. Suplizio faces 45 years in prison if convicted. The commonwealth reserved the right to refile charges in the future.
