June’s public benefit fraud tally is almost 50 people. Pennsylvania’s inspector general yesterday announced charges against 47 people from last month for felony public assistance fraud. The I-G’s office says they all either sold their benefit cards, or lied about their income in order to continue collecting benefits. In addition to the charges, all 47 people have been suspended from either food stamps, temporary cash assistance, or other public benefit programs. If convicted, they’ll face another mandatory exclusion period as well.
