Blair County Prison Warden Resigns

prison-3

Without giving any reason, Blair County’s Prison Warden, Abbie Tate submitted her resignation yesterday, effective immediately.  Tate resigned just days after an inmate was recaptured after he attempted to escape the prison.  Last Wednesday, the prisoner escaped during transport when a prison van was returning with several inmates from the Blair County Central Court.  A number of issues and incidents have occurred at the prison in recent years associated with the age of the structure, inmate overcrowding, assaults, and a corrections officer falsifying his prison time card and getting paid for shifts he wasn’t working.  Serving as interim warden will be Shaun Edmundson who has served as a deputy warden and former corrections officer for 17 years.  Tate worked for the prison for two decades and served as warden for seven years.
