State Lawmakers Show Sign Of Support For Faculty Unionization At PSU

old-main

In a significant escalation of labor organizing at Penn State Univeristy, more than 100 state lawmakers have formally called on the administration to remain neutral as faculty move toward a historic unionization vote.  A total of 102 Pennsylvania lawmakers sent a letter to President Neeli Bendapudi.  They urged the university to ensure a “free and fair process” and demanded that no taxpayer or tuition funds be used for what they call  “union-avoidance tactics” or third-party consultants. While a specific date has not yet been set, university officials, and union organizers anticipate the election taking place later,  during the spring semester.
