A Johnstown teen was sentenced to two to four years in the Cambria County Prison and one year of probation for the November 2024 fatal shooting of 17-year-old Syrina Raneri, who was a fellow Greater Johnstown student. Eighteen-year-old Kaden Woodring was sentenced following a guilty plea to involuntary manslaughter. In November of 2024, Woodring was arrested following the fatal shooting of Raneri. The incident occurred at a home on Sheridan Street in Johnstown’s West End while Raneri was there to pick up two individuals from a social gathering. Investigators stated that Woodring pointed a rifle at Raneri and pulled the trigger, allegedly saying, “You know I’m playing,” before the fatal shot was fired. Although the weapon was never recovered, Woodring entered a guilty plea to involuntary manslaughter in January of this year. With time already served, Woodring will be eligible for parole in about 7 months.
