ICE Appeals Order Blocking Detention Centers

The federal government is appealing an order blocking proposed ICE detention centers in Schuylkill and Berks Counties. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection filed an order preventing the immigration agency from using water and sewer systems for the proposed centers.  The department said access will remain blocked until ICE submits detailed plans showing how they would handle the increased demand, including any needed infrastructure upgrades.  Federal officials said the filing interferes with their ability to carry out immigration enforcement.
