A new company will soon manage inmate medical care at the Blair County Prison.
Commissioners voted Thursday to award a 3-year contract to Florida-based Armor Health, starting August 1st. The contract will cost $3.73 million in the first year, rising to $4.06 million by the third year.
The move ends a 21-year run with Harrisburg-based PrimeCare Medical, whose contract expires July 31st. This marks the first time since 2005 that the facility will have a new medical provider.
