Traffic safety and congestion relief are coming to Central Pennsylvania as part of a $38 million statewide investment into transportation infrastructure. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced that several municipalities in Blair, Bedford and Centre counties will receive funding through the state’s Green Light-Go Program. Funded through the 2026-27 state budget, the initiative reimburses local governments to modernize existing traffic signals across 86 municipalities statewide. According to PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll, the targeted upgrades aim to improve overall safety, reduce gridlock, and help communities maintain more efficient transportation networks. Locally, the City of Altoona will receive a nearly 300-thousand dollar grant to upgrade the high-traffic signal at Pleasant Valley Boulevard and Jaggard Street. Logan Township will be awarded nearly one-and-a-half-million for equipment and detection upgrades at Osgood Drive Intersections, including Sophira Lane, Falon Lane and the Home Depot/Best Buy entrance.
