A Bedford County judge has significantly increased the bail for an 18-year-old mother facing severe child abuse charges after medical examinations revealed her infant daughter suffered a fractured skull.  Liberti Johns, of Roaring Spring, remains held at the Bedford County Correctional Facility.  Her bail was adjusted to $750,000 following updated medical evidence detailing the true extent of the injuries sustained by her 3-month-old daughter.  Johns was arrested last week after authorities responded to reports of a severely injured infant.  According to investigators, Johns allegedly admitted during police questioning that she had “aggressively grabbed the baby out of frustration.”  The infant girl was initially hospitalized with six broken ribs, and multiple other injuries.  However, subsequent evaluations by medical staff confirmed that the child had also sustained a skull fracture from the alleged assault.  Due to the heightened severity of those life-threatening injuries, prosecutors successfully petitioned court officials to raise her bail to the current three-quarter-million-dollar mark.  Johns faces multiple criminal counts, headlined by aggravated assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.  The 3-month-old victim remains under medical care.
