UPMC For Life Cancels Medicare Advantage Plan In Three Counties

Thousands of Medicare recipients in Cambria, Clearfield and Cameron Counties must find new prescription drug coverage for 2027 after UPMC for Life announced significant rollbacks to its Medicare Advantage plans.  The insurance giant is discontinuing its Medicare Advantage plans that include prescription drug coverage in those three counties.  While UPMC is not exiting the region entirely—its Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans, and medical-only plans will remain— however, the removal of Medical Advantage options will force thousands of residents to actively choose a new plan during the upcoming Medicare annual enrollment period.  Defending its decision, UPMC stated that it regularly reviews its plan offerings in response to evolving healthcare needs, market conditions, and program requirements.
