My latest example of ballpoint pen “sketchy behavior” was started two months ago…This one shows Blair County rock’n’roll trio Freedom Rocks as they provided the musical entertainment during a recent “Friday Wine Down” at Altoona’s Oak Spring Winery. Singer Jo Ann Nardelli, drummer Mike Nardelli and guitarist Vic Sabo perked up the wining and dining folk with their variety of rock’n’roll favorites spanning the 1960s through 1980s. They did early rock’n’roll numbers like Roy Orbison’s “Oh Pretty Woman,” the Isley Brothers/Beatles’ “Twist and Shout,” The Chantays’ “Pipeline,” The Crystals’ “Da Doo Ron Ron,” Kathy Young & The Innocents’ “1,000 Stars” and more; also classic rock gems from Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joan Jett, John Mellencamp, ZZ Top, Santana, Fleetwood Mac, AC/DC, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, The Doors and others. Freedom Rocks radiated fun through it all, prompting in-seat grooving and receiving nice cheers from the audience. They also inspired my ballpoint pens into action…Fun times!
