WRTA News Blair County General Election 2021 Results

Two incumbents and two new members, all Republicans, will be on the next Altoona City Council. Council member Bruce Kelley led the vote with 18.5%, newcomer David Ellis was second with 18.4%, Vice-Mayor Dave Butterbaugh was third with 18.1% and first-time candidate Ron Beatty fourth with 17.9%.

Democrat candidates Brigitte Jackson, Michael Leonard, Darius Morgan and Bryant Giselman had 7.8, 6.9, 6.4 and 6% of the vote.

Elected to a four year term on the Altoona School Board were Kelly Irwin Adams with 22.7%, Val Mignogna at 22.4%, Stephanie McGinnis with 22.2% and David Francis at 21.1%, with Tina Johnston out, trailing at 11.5%

In the race to fill two years of a seat after a resignation, newcomer David Greenwood beat Rick Hoover 68.5% to 31.5%.  Hoover had lost his position in the Spring Primary.

In the Hollidaysburg School Board race, the four winners were Carmen Bilek at 26.2%, Jennifer Costanza with 23.8%, Scott Brennemen with 19.8% and Ronald Sommer with 18.9%. Christopher Garman had 11.3%.

Winning Tyrone School Director positions were Matthew Germino, Rose Black, Kris Laird and Gunter Volders.

Martinsburg Borough Council winners were Charles Kensinger, Edward Bennett,  James Dell and Janet Blattenberger.

Tyrone Borough Council winners were David Snyder, Sarah Dane, Rob Poust and Devon Henninger.

Williamsburg Borough Council winners: Bruce Hamilton, Edgar Patterson, Paula Hamilton and Dennis Hammil.

Other winners: 

Allegheny Twp Supervisor: Joseph Harteis; Blair Twp Supervisor: Bradley Germaux;

Frankstown Twp Supervisor: George W. Henry, Jr; Freedom Twp Supervisor: Ed Bender; Hollidaysburg Borough Council: Jeff Ketner.

Bellwood Borough voted 68 to 32% to reduce the size of Council from 7 to 5 members .

Blair County voted Yes by 75% to designate the County as a Second Amendment Sanctuary, with each municipality also voting Yes to agree that no taxpayer resources will be used to enforce any future legislation that would infringe on a citizen’s right to bear arms.

Statewide, Republican Kevin Brobson won a seat as a Justice on the PA Supreme Court

Republican Megan Sullivan won a seat on the Superior Court

And Republicans Drew Compton and Stacy Marie Wallace won seats on the Commonwealth Court

John Bender and Mary Jane Bowes won retention on the Superior Court and Anne Covey and Renee Cohn Jubelier won retention on the Commonwealth Court 

Out of 77,621 registered voters in Blair County, 23,167 ballots were cast, 2,381 by mail.

That represents a voter turn-out of 29.8%
