The first full weekend of the New Year often tends to be slow for live music happenings, as venues rest up from their New Year’s Eve festivities, and the calm after the holiday season sets in. But live music is happening, with a number of bands and performers taking the stage.
One benefit event is taking place, as popular local outlaw country group Stephanie & the Wild Hearts (and their acoustic duo side project Wild Desire) pay tribute to one of their most enthusiastic fans. Jamie Lynne Walls passed away unexpectedly in October; Jamie was an avid supporter of Stephanie & the Wild Hearts, frequently attending the group’s shows, helping to promote and publicize the group, and bringing an enthusiastic presence and smile to the group’s performances. The group will remember Jamie Lynne with a benefit on Saturday evening at the Port Matilda American Legion, with proceeds going to Jamie Lynne’s family and fiancee. The group will celebrate Jamie Lynne’s life and memories, and the event will also feature baskets, raffles and more. The music will begin at 8 p.m., and the event is open to the public.
