Randall Pink – “Pinkland”

This week’s “Local Song of the Week” surfaces from the Johnstown area, as we check out the musical explorations of Randall Pink, the original music project alter ego of multi-instrumentalist and singer Randy Penrod. Randy has emerged as a talented and versatile musician who is unafraid to explore new sonic frontiers. He has graced area stages as a member of Afro N’At, Neon Belly and a participant and host of jam night events in the Johnstown area; and he also was part of the local “all-star” lineup that tackled Stevie Wonder’s iconic 1976 double-album set “Songs in the Key of Life” during the inaugural “Classic Vinyl Concert Series” in February at the State Theater of Johnstown. The instrumental title track of Randall Pink’s debut EP, “Pinkland” blends elements of jazz, funk and rock, with Randy’s guitar carrying the melody along a keyboard underscore. Watch for Randy’s continued musical adventures on area stages, and his further Randall Pink recording excursions in the months ahead.
