WTAJ reports that the county has for the second time accepted bids to upgrade the security system at the jail. The commissioners and prison staff have been searching for bids to get new security measures in place at the jail for sometime. If approved by the county solicitor and engineer, then bids can be awarded to install newer security cameras and upgrade doors at the facility. The upgrades are necessary to keep the jail in compliance with state and federal protocols. The bids ranged from a low of $1.18 million to a high bid of $2.19 million. The county is also looking at the possibility of constructing a new prison, but that is just in the conversation stages.
