The report indicates that enrollment for children in pre kindergarten classes dropped by more than 8000 in the 20-21 school year. The national institute of early education says this drop in pa is unheard of and alarming. With the drop in enrollment, there is the corresponding drop in funding as well. The state says that $22 million was lost because of the enrollment decline. Getting teachers has also become an issue. Lisa Mussi of the learning Station in Centre County says they cannot compete with higher wages now being offered to people in the private sector. Stats for the current school year wee not complete.
