According to news reports, county coroner Rusty Styer was called to the scene of the accident along the Raystown branch of the Juniata River in Hopewell Twp Saturday afternoon. Styer reported that 59 year old James McQuait was on his kayak when the accident occurred. McQuait apparently drowned during the accident, but no other details were released by the coroner. McQuait was pronounced dead at the scene, and his death has been ruled as an accident.
