That is according to a professor at the Penn State school of business. In a report by WTAJ, Prof. Brent Moritz says that while the tax holiday could lower prices at the pump, he says that the reduction might never reach consumers. That is because he thinks the oil companies could keep the prices high, and keep the gas tax for themselves. President Biden is thinking about invoking the gas tax holiday for a period of 3 months, which would allegedly lower the cost of gas some 18 cents per gallon. However, that will take an act of congress, and some lawmakers are unwilling to vote for the idea. All lawmakers in Washington are set to go on a 2 week break after tomorrow.
