A report out of Harrisburg indicates that the state house passed a budget bill of nearly $43 billion by a vote of 180-20, with all 20, no votes coming from the republican side of the aisle. House Speaker Bryan Cutler said that the budget would save money, it would also invest money and will help future spending plans down the road. The budget does contain an increase in spending for public schools. The same budget did not get favorable reviews in the senate. The new budget if signed into law, would pay for an additional 200 state troopers, which would allow for more money for transportation projects. Another big issue is the corporate income tax, which would be reduced to 9% if the budget passes and is signed by gov. Veto. No word on when a budget deal will be announced.
