In a report by WTAJ, park officials have announced that the Wildcat roller coaster will close down for good on july 31st. The coaster has been in operation since 1996, when Hersheypark was undergoing an expansion. An updated version wooden coaster named the lightning racer was built and introduced back in 2000. Park officials did not give any reason why the wildcat is going out of operation, with that information possibly coming out later this year. Officials are looking for suggestions on what to do with 3100 feet of wooden track.
