PSU announces hiring freeze

News reports out yesterday state that the university has decided to freeze hiring for the next 13 months. The school cited inflation, a three year long tuition freeze and pandemic related issues concerning enrollment. Job freezes will not take place in critical positions such as campus safety, compliance and student success. Most positions that ate now vacant will remain that way for the time indicated with few exceptions. PSU officials say they are working to try and balance its budget, which was greatly impacted by the pandemic. The hiring freeze will not apply to graduate assistant positions that are funded by grants or other contracts. Also the school announced the combining of the office of corporate controller and budget office into one new office called budget and finance.
