The Altoona Mirror reports that the Blair County salary board, which consists of the commissioners and county controller, approved a 2.75% increase for its non union workers. The total cost of the raises is expected to be between $56,700 and $59,000, but that could be closer to the $56,700 figure by the end of the year. The raises will not affect this years budget, but for 2023, commissioner Amy Webster said that it may put the county in a bind of trying to keep expenses low. The total amount could be dependent on whether employees remain in the county’s employ, and how long open positions remain vacant.
