
A report in the Altoona Mirror indicates that Penn State reportedly reimbursed 5 Centre County police departments more than $572,000 for last years football security. The school sends reimbursement to the departments once the season is over and all hours are logged in. The state college police dept reported its officers put in more than 2000 hours of overtime for football, and were paid nearly $399,000. The 4 other departments were reported to have worked an average of 412 hours covering Penn State football and were reimbursed between $24,000 and $58,000 for the season. Penn state is currently undergoing a reviews of all finances, including posting a hiring freeze through next summer. The information was provided by the police departments, and not the university.
