According to a report by WTAJ, Northern Cambria police have charged 54 year old Richard Norton with assault after an officer stopped to perform a welfare check. During that stop, someone drove by and shouted an obscenity at Norton. When he began to approach that vehicle, the officer tried to stop Norton. At that point, Norton became unruly and struck the officer in the chest with a closed fist. Norton was taken down to the ground and placed under arrest. The officer required treatment. Norton is charged with assaulting a police officer, along with simple assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
