
A report in the Altoona Mirror over the weekend stated that Gov Wolf vetoed a bill known as Markie’s bill, named for 8 year old Markie Mason was murdered after an inmate was released just after his minimum sentence ended for murder. Keith Burley was arrested just 4 months after getting out of prison for mason’s murder. Gov Veto said that the bill which was passed by both chambers of the legislature was misguided and promotes an ineffective structure of mandatory parole denial. The parole board, stated that Burley was rehabilitated and posed no threat to the general public when granting his parole.
