A report in the Altoona Mirror indicates that sheriff’s office is planning to ask the State Commission on Crime and Delinquency for a $5.1 million grant to purchase new radios for his office and for body and vehicle cameras for all. Deputy Kermit Alwine says that the commission could possibly have as much as $10 in grant money to be distributed in 2023 and 2024. The Blair County Commissioners stated that they would like to see crisis intervention training be part of the grant application process. The commissioners will have to vote on the grant request, which could be tomorrow.
