Family members of Rhonda Russell planted a tree yesterday at Natureworks park in Hollidaysburg in her memory. Russell was shot and killed one year ago after an inmate broke free from restraints and took Russell hostage at the Central Court building in Altoona. Russel was pulled into the line of fire when a city police officer fired his weapon at the suspect. Yesterday’s ceremony was in honor of Russell, whom family members and her fiancee said loved the holiday season. Many well wishers came out for the ceremony yesterday.
