According to a report by WTAJ, UGI Utilities announced that beginning today, gas prices will go up 3.1% and would send the average monthly gas bill from $119 to $123. A UGI vice president, Chris Brown said that the company recognizes that customers are concerned about rising prices, but he said that commodity costs have risen for all fuels across the board. Even with the increase, brown said that Pennsylvania prices are still lower than many other states thanks to Marcellus shale production. Earlier this year in June, prices went up for natural gas customers. Brown urged customers to check out payment assistance programs to help with the cost of heating your home.
