A report by the Altoona Mirror indicates that the latest projection for 2023 is that a new budget will not contain any property tax increase for homeowners. The report suggests that the deficit has been whittled down to roughly $1.5 million, and that the deficit can be covered by money from the American Rescue Plan act that Blair county received last year. Without that money. County finance director Lindsay Dempsie said that a tax hike possibly would have been necessary. The budget will be formally introduced at the weekly commissioners meeting next Tuesday.
