The Altoona Mirror reports today that borough council has approved the 2023 spending plan, that does not contain property tax increases, and finished with a surplus of $6. One resident asked council if a 9th police officer could be hired for the force with money that was supposedly earmarked for a zoning assistant. Borough manager Jim Gehret said that the money could be used for a new officer, but was non committal about the subject, but did say council would be asked about about that police position. The budget takes effect January 1.
