WJAC reports that jury selection is scheduled to begin next week in the case of Jeffrey Thomas. The embattled suspended District Attorney from Somerset County is set to face charges that he raped a Windber woman in her home in August of 2021. The trial was set to have started back in September, but a judge granted a continuance on behalf of the defense, because of the lack of witness availability. The actual trial is not set to being until the week of march 8th. The state attorney general’s office is prosecuting the case. Thomas has been suspended from office while he is facing these charges.
