The school board was ordered by the courts to create opportunities for girls to play hockey. But, as of last month, the district had apparently not followed through on that order. So a group of parents got together and sued the district under the title ix act. Last night, the board hired a law firm to take up its case to proceed with creating opportunities for girls in sports. HD Director Linda Pierce says that she is sure that State College is following Title IX procedures in terms of equal facilities, for both genders. A girls wrestling program will now be started, adding to the 100 needed for the PIAA to sanction the sport.
