A report from Harrisburg suggests that Senator Scott Martin of Berks/Lancaster county says he has reintroduced legislation to make the switch to daylight savings time permanent. Currently 29 states have pending legislation to keep DST year round, and Hawaii and Arizona already observe it according to present law. The measure sits before congress, and the bill did not muster out before the 117th congress adjourned. Martin said that DST started during World War I to help the military save fuel and again during World War II. It was made to be a permanent change in 1966 with the signing of the uniform time act.
