Teachers are halfway through a second week of a strike over contract issues, mainly healthcare. Teachers walked off of the job last week, and have continued to picket outside the school district buildings. Yesterday, channel 6 reported that now some students have joined teachers marching on the picket lines in support of their fight. Teachers are fighting a proposed healthcare plan that would eliminate certain spouses from being covered. A meeting was apparently held yesterday, without resolution. Both sides seem to be dug into their positions. A school board meeting is set for tomorrow night.
