News reports indicate that Jeffrey Thomas will head to court today, accused of raping a Windber woman in her home back in 2021. Thomas has been suspended from his position as somerset county district attorney since he was accused of the crime. Thomas is accused of attacking the woman after following her home and going inside uninvited. The alleged attack occurred after she told him to leave back in September of 2021. Thomas has also been accused of attacking his wife since his arrest, and has sued the county and state for back pay and benefits while he is suspended. The state Attorney General’s office is prosecuting the case against Thomas, and Cambria County Senior Judge Tim Creany will preside at trial to avoid any conflicts of interest.
