The Altoona Mirror reports that the board gave its approval for a change order for $145,000 to prepare their football and baseball fields for the new turf surfaces. The company doing the topsoil work told the board that it needed to go further down to 15 inches of soil removal, rather than the original 6 inches, to ensure a proper fit and placement of the turf surfaces. The board agreed after information was exchanged. The report says that the company should begin installing the football and baseball turf next month. Along with the softball field, the turf should be installed in a two week period.
