Published reports suggest that Altoona Police officer Dusten Thompson has thrown his hat into the ring to become a district judge. Thompson is a 14 year veteran of the APD, and says that experience will serve him well on the bench. Thompson says is triained in mental health and behavioral matters, and has interacted with many organizations in the community. He says he can help steer people away from the criminal justice system. Thompson will run against current District Judge Ben Jones in the May primary.
