
As we reported to you on Friday, the board got preliminary approval for the fist phase of renovations that will cost $70 million. Now the full board has approved a plan that will cost $160 million in stadium remodel. Phase 1 includes upgraded lighting, winterization of the stadium and maintainence issues that need addressed, at a cost of nearly $200 million. All funds for this project will come from athletic department monies, and none from the general fund budget at Penn State, according to university President Neeli Bendapudi. Also on the upgrade list is a remodel of the Lasch football building, a 38,000 square foot training facility for all Penn State athletes and the Greenberg indoor sports center.
