A ceremony was conducted at the State Police academy in Hershey for fallen troopers. The most recent trooper to pass away was trooper Monte Mitchell from Dubois, who passed away while on duty from a medical emergency. All 103 names of troopers who died in the line of duty were read aloud to the gathering of people. The state police was formed back on May 2, 1905 and was the first organized uniformed police organization of its kind in America. Gov Josh Shapiro said at the memorial that we cannot measure the amount of bravery that these men and women sacrifice for us every day, and that he is committed to supporting state police and their families
