Television news reports indicate that Rt. 22 in the Jackson Twp area has re-opened following a late night crash of a tractor trailer hauling dangerous chemicals on Monday. Now officials are concerned that those chemicals may have spilled into a nearby steam. The chief of the Cambria Co. Sharp Hazmat unit said that retention ponds that were put up should have captured all of those chemicals. But a member of the state dept of environmental protection told WTAJ that some of the chemicals did enter a catch basin, and there is a reported fish kill in that area. The crash kept part of rt 22 closed in both directions for the better part of 24 hours.
